Daily amount by size
| Cat size | Daily amount (all cat meals) |
|---|---|
| Small (1 to 3 kg) | 55 to 115 g |
| Medium (4 to 6 kg) | 140 to 180 g |
| Large (7 to 9 kg) | 200 to 240 g |
How long does one 150 g pack last?
| Your cat eats | One pack lasts |
|---|---|
| 75 g a day | 2 days |
| 150 g a day | 1 day |
| 225 g a day | 1.5 packs a day |
Once thawed, keep the pack at 3 to 8 °C and use it within 4 days, so every cat size finishes a pack in good time.
What changes the amount
- Weight and body shape: portions aim for a healthy target weight, not just the current one.
- Activity and lifestyle: an indoor, sleepy cat usually needs less than an active one.
- Age and neutering: both affect energy needs.
- Recipe: Purrfect Chicken is 122 kcal per 100 g, Purrfect Lamb 135 and Purrfect Fish 129. See calories per recipe.
- Treats: keep them to under about 10% of daily calories. See treats.
Cats like small meals
Many cats prefer to eat little and often. You can split the daily amount into several small meals, as long as the daily total stays the same. Do not leave fresh food sitting out for long; pick up what is not eaten and keep the rest of the pack in the fridge. See meals per day.
Fine-tuning
- Weigh your cat before you start, then every 2 weeks.
- Check the body: you should feel the ribs easily, and see a waist from above.
- If your cat is gaining weight it does not need or leaving food, the portion may be too big. If they are hungry and losing weight, it may be too small.
- Update your cat in My Pets (Edit Pet) so the portion can be recalculated. See my pet's needs have changed.
If your cat refuses food for more than 24 hours, or is losing weight, please contact your vet. See when to see a vet.
