Standard 7-day plan
| Days | Soluky | Current food |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 2 | 25% | 75% |
| 3 to 4 | 50% | 50% |
| 5 to 6 | 75% | 25% |
| 7 | 100% | 0% |
The percentages are shares of your dog's daily amount. On day 1, for example, a dog that eats 400 g of Soluky a day gets about 100 g of Soluky plus 75% of their usual portion of their old food.
Gentle 21-day plan (picky or sensitive dogs)
| Days | Soluky | Current food |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 4 | 25% | 75% |
| 5 to 8 | 50% | 50% |
| 9 to 12 | 75% | 25% |
| 13 to 21 | 100% | 0% |
Before day 1
- Move your first pack from the freezer to the fridge the day before. It needs 12 hours to thaw.
- Pick one recipe for the switch. Chicken is the usual first pick; Lamb or Rabbit if chicken has caused problems before. See which recipe to start with.
- Pause extra treats and table food so you can see how your dog is doing.
Tips for a smooth switch
- Mix the two foods well so your dog cannot pick out one.
- Feed at set meal times, and do not keep offering alternatives.
- Serve at room temperature or slightly warmed, never hot.
- A splash of bone broth helps fussy dogs. See picky eaters.
- If the tummy gets a bit unsettled, stay at the current stage for a couple more days before moving on.
Stools often change during a switch, and smaller, firmer stools are common on fresh food. See loose stool after switching and what to expect in weeks 1 to 4.
Please contact your vet if loose stools continue after the transition, if there is ongoing vomiting, or if your dog stops eating or loses weight.
