Daily amount by size
| Dog size | Daily amount (all dog meals) |
|---|---|
| Extra small (1 to 5 kg) | 100 to 200 g |
| Small (6 to 10 kg) | 250 to 400 g |
| Medium (11 to 25 kg) | 450 to 700 g |
| Large (26 to 40 kg) | 750 to 1,000 g |
| Extra large (41 to 60 kg) | 1,050 to 1,400 g |
How long does one 500 g pack last?
| Your dog eats | One pack lasts |
|---|---|
| 125 g a day | 4 days |
| 250 g a day | 2 days |
| 500 g a day | 1 day |
| 750 g a day | 1.5 packs a day |
| 1,000 g a day | 2 packs a day |
Once thawed, a pack must be kept at 3 to 8 °C and used within 4 days. If your dog eats less than 125 g a day, a whole pack would take longer than that to finish. Message the Soluky team and we will help you plan around it.
What changes the amount
- Weight and body shape: a chubby dog is fed for a healthier target, an underweight dog a little more.
- Activity: a highly active dog needs more than a couch companion.
- Age and neutering: both affect energy needs, which is why Build My Box asks.
- Recipe: recipes differ in calories (Surf & Turf 129 kcal per 100 g, Rabbit 161). See calories per recipe.
- Treats and extras: keep treats to under about 10% of daily calories. See treats.
Fine-tuning over the first weeks
- Weigh your dog before you start, then every 2 weeks.
- Feel the ribs: you should feel them easily under a thin layer, without seeing them.
- If your dog is gaining weight it does not need, or leaving food, the portion may be too big. If they seem hungry and are losing weight, it may be too small.
- Update your dog in My Pets (Edit Pet) so the portion and plan can be recalculated. See my pet's needs have changed.
Sudden or unexplained weight loss or gain is a reason to see your vet. See weight gain or loss.
