How to work out calories for a portion
Multiply the grams you serve by the kcal per 100 g, then divide by 100. For example, 300 g of the Chicken Dog Meal is 300 x 157 / 100 = 471 kcal.
You do not need to do the maths yourself. Build My Box calculates your pet's daily amount, and each pet's card in My Pets in your dashboard shows their daily calories.
Lighter and richer recipes
- Lightest dog meal: Surf & Turf (129 kcal per 100 g). Chicken is also naturally lower in fat than beef and lamb.
- Richest dog meal: Rabbit (161 kcal per 100 g), because it includes organs. It is not the one for weight loss.
- Cats: Purrfect Chicken is the lightest (122), Purrfect Lamb the richest (135).
Recipes differ in calories, so if you change recipe or rotate between very different ones, it is worth re-checking your pet's portion. Re-run Build My Box or message the team and we will recalculate it.
