Feeding Guide for Normal Feeders
Meal Portions
Refer to your dog’s weight and activity level to determine the correct portion size. Soluky provides personalized recommendations to ensure your dog gets the right amount of nutrition.
Feeding Frequency
Split the recommended daily portion from the Soluky feeding calculator into two meals per day. However, some dogs may prefer one meal a day—adjust based on what works best for your dog.
Serving Temperature
For optimal flavor and digestibility, serve meals at room temperature or slightly warmed.
- If refrigerated, allow the food to sit at room temperature before serving.
- To warm it slightly, place the food in a bowl over warm water or heat it briefly in a pot with a bit of warm water. Avoid microwaving, as it can alter the food’s nutritional properties.
Feeding Guide for Picky Eaters
If your dog is used to processed kibble, transitioning to fresh food is like switching a child from fast food to wholesome, nutritious meals. It requires patience and consistency, but you’ll soon notice improvements in their energy levels, breath, teeth, coat, and overall health.
Tips to Encourage Eating
- Feed once a day: Some dogs eat better when they’re hungrier.
- Warm the food slightly: Enhances aroma and palatability.
- Do not leave food out for too long: Remove uneaten food within 30 minutes.
- Add a meal topper: Try mixing in a small amount of organ meat (try our Soluky treats that can also be meal toppers), broth, or lightly scrambled eggs to enhance flavor and entice picky eaters.
- Avoid distractions: Create a calm feeding environment.
- Make mealtime engaging: Try hand-feeding or using a puzzle bowl to add fun. Check out our blog for enrichment and feeding ideas.
- Limit treats: Excessive treats can reduce their appetite for real meals.
